Yokyo

Inspired by electricity and wub-wubs

Pop

Electro-Pop-Dub duo Yokyo have crash landed in Fort Worth, TX in search of their funky spacecraft. Only with the power of sound, love, and friendship will this dynamic pair return to their home planet, Yokyo. Inspired by electricity and wub-wubs, their compositions are an organic take on modern electronic dance music.

The entomology of Alight goes back to old English and Germanic roots meaning to dismount or catch ablaze. In modern terms it is conveyed as a crash landing. Alight is the first in a series of EPs by the electric dance duo Yokyo and tells the story of their crash landing on earth from their home planet Yokyo. Their spacecraft is destroyed and they must rely on their new friends to return home. The EP is a collection of heavy, high energy tracks that convey modern revelations about their new environment, Texas. Candy reveals that the locals work extremely hard and in doing so seek a release to let off steam. Daddy is a commentary on religious extremism and the impudence of the church. Cold like, the single off of the collection, conveys the fashion and attitude of the night life and Damn Right is a song dedicated to all the good people being stripped of their rights by the current Alt-right regime.

Princess Peaches

This song was really fun to record because it didn't have a deep meaning, we were just having fun. Although the lyrics ended up giving a "I'm sick of this shit, I'm the shit" attitude - the kind of attitude you need when the music industry tries to walk all over you.
