Walter FM

Walter FM's guitar driven indie is melancholic and hopeful at the same time. Hailing from Helsinki, the Finnish songwriter draws inspiration from 90s and 00s bands such as Kent, Smashing Pumpkins and Radiohead. The quieter passages of Walter FM's music remind of Sufjan Stevens' fragile indie-folk. After playing in various indie rock bands in the 2010s such as Fistpumping Cats and The Post, Walter Metsärinne launched his solo career under the name Walter FM in 2019 with the debut EP The Walter Metsärinne EP. Two years later saw his first full length Never In Control that received positive reviews from various indie/alt medias. Having produced, mixed and played most of the instruments on the first two releases himself, Walter felt the need to expand. He brought in Matti Muhos, Jussi Koski-Laulaja, Jussi Puukka and Severi Nurminen to join his band and to play on his new record. Walter FM’s sophomore LP “Indoor Monsoon” got finished in the fall of 2022 and is set to be released by Swedish label Ninetone Records in 2023.
